2026
No Vantage V4 has been announced. Based on the 3-year V2-to-V3 cycle, a successor could appear in 2026 with improved GPS accuracy and extended health sensors.
The Polar Vantage V3, released October 2023, is Polar's flagship sports watch — featuring ECG, wrist-based running power (no chest strap needed), multi-band GPS, AMOLED always-on display, and Polar's industry-leading training load and recovery analysis. At 8 days battery, it's the most analytically sophisticated Polar watch ever made.
Polar Vantage V3 is one of the few sports GPS watches with on-demand ECG — usually only found on lifestyle smartwatches.
Running power measurement without a foot pod or chest strap — a significant training metric for pacing effort on hills and varied terrain.
The most detailed training load analysis in any sports watch: muscle groups targeted per session, recovery status per muscle, and long-term load trends.
Serious endurance athletes — particularly runners and triathletes — who want Polar's unmatched training load science and recovery guidance, combined with ECG health monitoring and running power in a premium package.
Vantage V3 has ECG and wrist running power as unique features. Garmin FR965 has longer battery (23 days vs 8), full topographic maps, and a more polished ecosystem. For training science depth, Polar. For maps and battery, Garmin.
Basic breadcrumb trail navigation but not full topographic maps like Garmin or COROS. If full maps are essential, choose Garmin FR965 or COROS Apex 2 Pro.
The Vantage V3 is 2.5 years old and a successor is plausible in 2026. At sale prices, the V3 is excellent value. If timing is flexible, watch for a Polar announcement.
Yes — it supports swim, bike, and run with automatic sport detection and full multisport mode. Running power works across disciplines, and Training Load Pro tracks recovery across all three.
Yes — it pairs fully with both iPhone and Android via the Polar Flow app. All training analytics, sleep tracking, and health data sync to both platforms.
